Summer Camps at Midland Center

NEW CAMP! Set out on a journey through magical lands with your favorite fairytale characters! We will sing and twirl through the week like princesses and princes as we recreate our favorite tales. With a focus on creative movement and music, campers will gain confidence through songs, action dances, and hands-on activities.

Become an astronaut for the week as we blast off into outer space through special story times, crafts, and hands-on science experiments. Design a rocket, learn the planets of the solar system, and make an alien-themed craft to bring back home to planet Earth.

This fun and interactive camp combines vocal instruction, creative movement, and music games to learn the basics! Campers will learn to belt out their favorite Broadway tunes, project their voices, and take charge of the stage.

This week we will learn how invention, creation and experimentation can become works of art. Each day starts with a design challenge followed by projects that help us to learn how to build the ideas we imagined. Students will design, build, and test their own creations!

Come enjoy the thrill and belly laughs of this unique and fast-paced form of theatre! There are no prior skills or experience needed to participate in improvisational theatre. Just a willingness to play, look silly, and fly by the seat of your pants! Demonstrate your newfound skills for your family and friends at the end of the week.

Express your creativity throughout the week as we create sculptures with found objects, paint abstract murals, work with textiles, and think outside the lines! Learn about the elements of art and principles of design through contemporary and modern art movements as you create with a variety of materials.

Campers will explore a variety of illustration styles and the art of storytelling through visual art! Create original comic book characters and storylines and learn the techniques used to create a graphic novel masterpiece.

NEW CAMP! Explore your favorite children’s books at camp! Each day will feature a new classic story, and campers will bring favorite tales to life through dramatic play, unique crafts, and more. Campers will also build their own storytelling skills and will have the chance to illustrate their very own book to take home by the end of the week!

“Travel” back in time and around the world during this week-long adventure! Campers will experience other cultures through special story times and hands-on activities. Join us on our way to ancient Egypt, Greece, the Polynesian Islands – and more!

Enjoy hands-on history alongside your favorite American Girl characters and stories! Felicity, Josefina, Rebecca, Samantha, and Molly will be featured throughout the week. Play with the same antique toys Samantha may have enjoyed, learn about the art of weaving like Josefina, and enjoy food inspired by each character’s heritage every day as we learn about important moments in American history.

NEW CAMP! Step into a world of castles and courageous quests! In this camp, young knights and princesses will explore medieval times through theatre, art, and history. Campers will enjoy themed crafts like creating their own shields and crowns, learning a song from the times, and even making their own catapult to protect the castle!

Do you want to be up on the stage, under the lights? At this week-long camp, you will get the chance to sing, dance, and perform on the stage for your parents. A perfect introduction to the fun world of theatre and the performing arts!

NEW CAMP! Are you a camper that loves solving mysteries? Do you enjoy completing challenging puzzles? Join us for a week of searching for clues, solving puzzles, and escaping mazes as we learn about real historical events.

Sing, dance, and act throughout the week as we learn chorus numbers and basic choreography from Broadway classics. Build the basic skills to star on any future stage! The camp week will end with a performance for your family, including selections from familiar stage favorites.

Learn how to paint like the masters! Be inspired by a different artist each day. Explore techniques of Picasso, Pollock, Van Gogh, Dalí, and Mondrian. Learn about the elements of art and principles of design as you experiment with different materials while painting from still life, photographs, and your imagination! Create your own dazzling masterpieces!

Grab your paintbrush and prepare to learn about the elements and principles of art as we explore the fundamentals of painting. Topics include still-life, painting from reference, landscapes, and more.

Channel your child’s imagination and build confidence through theatre! Preschoolers will begin a life-long enjoyment of the arts when they act out their favorite stories, move with different types of music, and embrace their silly side!

Join us for a creative adventure in drawing, painting, and sculpting! We will explore the works of famous artists such as Piet Mondrian, Alma Thomas, and Claude Monet, among others. Each day, you'll have the opportunity to create your own artwork while practicing fine motor skills and learning about shapes and colors!

NEW CAMP! Get ready to imagine, build, and bring your invention ideas to life in this hands-on camp! Young inventors will explore the design process as they brainstorm ideas, sketch their creations, and build simple prototypes using everyday materials. Campers will tackle fun challenges - like designing a new toy or creating a household gadget to solve a problem. At the end of the week, campers will learn the art of pitching their ideas at their own invention convention for families!

Gotta catch them all! Learn the basics of your favorite game and enjoy hands-on science activities featuring your favorite characters. Explore the science of Pikachu’s electricity powers, draw the perfect Pokémon, and battle to become the best!

Become a jewelry artist for the week as you explore different jewelry-making techniques! Create and decorate your own clay and paper beads, make rings using wire designs, and learn weaving techniques to create unique bracelets.

Calling all brick masters! Build and create all week long in this Lego™-challenge camp. Build and race a moving vehicle, engineer a solution to a real-life problem, and learn the steps of invention while creating brick-by-brick.

Learn about the art of acting through a fun week of games, scenes, and exercises that will prepare you for your next starring role! The week will culminate in a performance for your family and friends to demonstrate your new skills.

NEW CAMP! Become a CSI agent for the week as you learn the secrets of forensic science. Dust for fingerprints, analyze shoeprints and handwriting samples, and solve mysteries throughout the week like a real true-crime investigator.

Become a chemist for the week as you take part in exciting hands-on experiments. Make a slimy polymer, create bubbling chemical reactions, make color-changing mixtures and more!

NEW CAMP! Ahoy there, camper! Get ready to dive into the world of pirates, sea creatures, and more! From the lens of a pirate crew, young buccaneers will learn all about water and ocean life through hands-on science experiments, playful crafts, and special stories!

Do you enjoy sticky slime or things that slither? Join us for a week of hands-on activities and experiments as we learn about all the things that give the adults the “ick”! Make slime each day, learn about the human body, and explore the creepy crawlies that live in our world.

Take the stage as your favorite superhero - or evil villain - as you learn about improvisation and character development and participate in basic theatre games! Participants will take the stage in a super skit for family and friends at the end of the week.

Discover the magic of art as we explore unique ways to create amazing works of art. We will use bubbles to create colorful creations, make color-changing invisible ink, and design magical transfer art. We will also learn about amazing artists around the world who create “magic” works of art!

Have you ever wondered how the heart pumps blood or the lungs breathe in air? In this camp, you will discover the real science behind the human body! Test the power of your five senses, participate in hands-on experiments and engaging demonstrations, and more!

Dive into the history of America through games, crafts, and foods inspired by the stories of one of your favorite book series, American Girl! Experience pioneer life with Kirsten, Civil War challenges with Addy, Victorian times with Samantha, the Great Depression with Kit, and World War II with Molly.

NEW CAMP! Get ready to uncover the strangest, silliest, and most surprising stories from the past! In this camp, students will travel through time to explore unusual inventions, quirky customs, mysterious events, and unbelievable but true moments in history. Campers will investigate odd artifacts, solve historical puzzles, and complete hands-on STEM and creative projects inspired by real, past and peculiar events!

Dig deep into character development, performing as an ensemble, and theatre technique in this dramatic camp! Campers will also help design simple costumes, props, and set pieces for their own performance at the end of the week!

Get ready to dive into the fundamentals of coding, 3D printing, and more! In collaboration with MSU St. Andrews, you will spend the week exploring the invention process, creating your own prototype, and enhancing your technical skills!

Does your little helper dream of delivering the mail, riding on the garbage truck, or fearlessly fighting fires? Campers will enjoy dramatic play, themed story times, hands-on crafts, and special themed activities all week as we learn about these community heroes and other helpers.

Buckle up for camp as we learn about all things that go! Explore cars, trains, boats, and planes with hands-on activities and crafts. Campers will work with gears, multiple moving gadgets, and more to create their own moving vehicle and other transportation creations each day!

NEW CAMP! See your creativity in motion in this hands-on STEM camp! Campers will build kinetic structures, design simple machines, experiment with basic circuits, and solve creative challenges every day at camp.

Explore the amazing world of sculpture! Create 3D masterpieces from a variety of mediums, including clay and wire, as we draw inspiration from artists like Calder, Miró, and Chihuly throughout the week.

No prior singing experience is necessary, as this camp will start with the vocal basics alongside our experienced instructors! Practice breathing techniques, learn about pitch, rhythm, and diction, and perform for your family at the end of the week.

Explore the magic of making a theatre production come to life! Take a backstage tour and meet the talented artists behind the scenes. Learn about lighting and set design, practice creating stage-perfect make-up, and create props and costume components.

Experience the “Wizarding World” by participating in mini classes such as Potions (chemistry), Herbology (plants), Care of Magical Creatures (animals/habitats and creativity), and Astronomy/Astrology. Join the magical adventures!

Take your acting to the next level! Using scene work and monologue you will improve comedic timing, commit to characters, and break down a scene for better focus. Explore tips and tricks when attending auditions and more!
