Nature Explorers NC Forest Camps offers outdoor programs for children aged 5-12 in Chapel Hill, NC. These day camps focus on nature exploration, utilizing the forest as a classroom. Activities include fort building, mud painting, and outdoor problem-solving, designed to engage all senses. Each week-long, full-day session emphasizes critical thinking and discovery within natural settings. Campers engage with their surroundings, fostering exploration and observation skills. The small camp sizes, with a maximum of 12 children supervised by two adults, ensure individualized attention. The primary activity is nature exploration, allowing children to interact directly with their environment.
At Nature Explorers we intentionally keep our camp sizes small (only 12 kids and 2 excellent adult teachers) in order to ensure that everyone has a great experience in the forest and that everyone’s voice is heard, no matter how quiet! Activities range from group challenges and games to building forest huts to catching (and releasing) creek critters, nature art and journaling, storytelling, bushcraft, and much more.
