Engineering Camp Charlotte offers a STEM-focused program, providing hands-on engineering challenges developed by NC State University’s College of Engineering faculty. The curriculum educates K-12 students about engineering concepts and career paths through inquiry and problem-based activities. Campers participate in engineering design challenges that require applying math and science knowledge to solve problems, often across various engineering fields. The camp integrates the Engineering Design Process adapted from Boston Museum of Science’s Engineering is Elementary program and aligns with NC Department of Public Education’s K-12 engineering standards. Students in Charlotte, NC work collaboratively in teams to articulate problems, identify constraints, and develop solutions. This process fosters communication and presentation skills while introducing them to the National Academy of Engineering’s 14 Grand Challenges.
