About this class
Incoming first-year engineering students can get a head start at the Summer Launch program in Madison, WI. This residential engineering training allows admitted students to experience campus life, take courses for credit, and connect with peers before their first semester at UW–Madison. The program offers introductory design courses from the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments, providing a solid foundation for future studies. This is an ideal way to begin your academic journey as a Badger engineer.

Past sessions
An optional program for incoming freshmen to get a head start by taking ME 201: “Introduction to Mechanical Engineering” in the summer before starting at UW–Madison. It includes social activities and helps students get familiar with campus life.
