Black Hills Community Theatre Summer Camp

Before camp begins, students will vote on a series of pre-selected songs from some of Broadway’s biggest musicals that they will then learn dances to and devise a story around the songs. We could end up having a song from Hamilton and Phantom of the Opera, for example, where the students must create a story that incorporates both songs together!

Ancient Greece is known for having some of the oldest recorded plays in existence. It is also known for using masks to help enhance and tell the story. Students will design their own mask(s) to use for the showcase. Come bring these stories to life with familiar characters like Zeus, Poseidon, Aphrodite, Persephone and more!

Shakespeare is known to be the playwright who has had the most performed plays of all time! His exceptional language and dynamic characters have stood the test of time and are still highly regarded today. Come perform some of his most famous speeches and iconic characters!

What is the first rule of improv? Yes and! Which is all about working collaboratively with your scene partners to drive a story forward. The catch? Nothing is pre-planned! Come learn some tools for storytelling on the fly.
